Dunes in Moonlight

The  Great Sand Dunes in Colorado are a designated Dark Sky location. When I was there the moon was waning yet still pretty big and was rising at 11:30 pm, or so I was told by my apps, which didn’t account for the terrain as they were supposed to. Anyway, my idea was to capture the star filled dark sky prior to any light pollution from the moon and then blend that image with one exposed to capture the moonlight on the dunes. All worked splendidly except I had to wait an extra 2 hours for the moonlight  to get over the top of the Sangre de Cristos to the east.
