I grew to really love surf photography. Probably born from my motorsport photography its really fun and challenging to capture these guys and gals in the moment they are creating their art. I have never surfed but I ski, snowboard, mountain bike and was a high wind windsurfing junkie some years back so I know the feeling, art and creativity that exists deep in a sport like this. I especially love to capture the moment when a surfer would make a powerful cut off the lip of a wave throwing up a curtain of spray. Like a snowflake each one is unique. Being out on the beach with the 500mm on my 1dx put me enough in their world that I could feel the after surf high and satisfaction when they paddled in and walked up the beach with big smiles on their faces.
