I was just thinking if I was limited to one word to describe my experience of Death Valley it might be expansive, but then again why would I want to limit myself in anyway! The area is really really big. You can spend several hours driving from one location to another. Within that expansiveness there is a world of beautiful landscapes unlike any others with an amazing palette of colors. There's beautiful light at the beginning and end of the day and if you avoid going to destination locations with the full parking lots, there is an abundance of solitude. There is a part of me that has an innate attraction to solitude and being alone in a place where every direction you look for miles in any direction there is unworldly beauty and quiet, this is something I will return to enjoy.
