Dunes Photography – Transition

Transition

I was enjoying how the sun was providing soft backlight to the trees and brush where the dunes met the creek and after exposing a few images I saw these two cottonwoods. I moved up the hill a bit so that I could frame them against the backdrop of the dunes cascading down. I shot a few images as I waited for the right moment. I initially composed a horizontal 4 x 5 but switched to the vertical as I was able to include another layer of the dune crests illuminated with the last of the sunlight.
