Photographers Who Inspire Me – Lisa Kristine

With this first installment of ‘Photographers Who Inspire Me’, I want to introduce you to a uniquely talented photographer, Lisa Kristine.

Many years ago, my Lisa and I were in Santa Fe walking the Plaza when we walked by a gallery with a large format print of a Tibetan nomad posed in an expansive high mountain landscape. The photograph entitled ‘One Thousand Mile Stare’ took our breath away and drew us inside the gallery exclusively displaying Lisa Kristine’s beautiful photographs of indigenous cultures from more than 100 countries. Deeply moved, we left with four small prints, ‘One Thousand Mile Stare’, ‘Stripes – Riff Mountains’, ‘Brahmin Blue – India, ‘First Rain – Yangshuo’ and a collection book ‘This Moment’

Her images are technically extraordinary and beautifully composed but more than anything for me they are deeply moving photographs of these beautiful people.

The following excerpt from is from her ‘About’ page:

“Through her work, Lisa wishes to encourage a dialogue about the beauty, diversity and hardship of our inter-locking world. The more meaning born in the images, the deeper that dialogue may be. Lisa Kristine aims to enhance her viewer’s awareness and engage them in a visual journey that is also a questioning of our existence. She wants to welcome them into the exploration of our mysterious existence with a spirit of importance, astonishment and hope.”

Her current efforts, through her photographs, are towards enlightening humankind to the condition of contemporary human enslavement by bringing a human face to the millions of enslaved throughout the world.

I remain deeply inspired by the use of her beautiful photography to tell the story of these wonderful people from all over the world. I encourage you to to visit www.lisakristine.com and explore her work. Prepare to be moved.

Lisa takes her photographs with large and medium format film cameras.
